Key Programmes
Through our programmes we develop products and services, people and ecosystems. All three are needed to create an enduring enabling environment for the best people to tackle the most challenging problems and make new, context-appropriate solutions available where they are most needed.
Our programmes deliver impact in three ways: through the market, through policy change and through knowledge-sharing. Most programmes make a difference through at least two of these routes to impact
Climate Compatible Growth
CCG is a UK Aid funded programme that supports investment in sustainable energy and transport systems that address development priorities across the Global South. The initiative brings together partners in government, industry, and research to advance practical pathways for sustainable growth.
The Centre for Global Equality works with the University of Cambridge to
lead the Country Partnerships team. In this role, CGE helps shape and
strengthen national partnerships, supports the planning and delivery of
key events, and maintains close engagement with FCDO teams, governments, and institutions in each country.
The Cultivator
The Cultivator is the Centre for Global Equality’s specialist venture builder, supporting social entrepreneurs and research-led innovators to develop
context-appropriate solutions that advance Sustainable Development Goals. The programme provides long-term guidance, targeted funding, a supportive community, and opportunities for co-creation to help promising ideas progress toward real-world impact.
CGE applies its inclusive innovation strategy through the Cultivator by placing challenge owners at the centre of venture design and connecting innovators with partners across sectors and countries.
Development and Global i-Teams
Development i Teams explores how new technologies can create sustainable improvements in the lives of people in low and middle income countries. The programme brings together Cambridge students to investigate real innovations, focusing on practical questions of route to market, appropriate use in context, affordability, and long-term impact.
The Centre for Global Equality collaborates with Cambridge i Teams to help run the programme and source projects that address genuine development needs. Many projects that begin in Development i Teams progress into CGE’s Cultivator programme, enabling teams to continue refining and advancing their ideas.
